About Monaco : The Principality is divided into 9 areas
The Principality is divided into 9 areas
- Fontvieille, the 22-hectare platform reclaimed from the sea several decades ago, a technical feat, and its tourist and sports complex, marina and pollution-free industrial zone
- Larvotto, the area to the east of the Principality, whose relatively new apartment blocks are close to Monaco's beach, the Sporting d'Ete, the Monte-Carlo Country Club and famous Beach Club
- Monaco-Ville, the ancient fortified town built on the rock, with the Prince's Palace, the town walls, the gardens, the Cathedral and the Oceanographic Museum
- Jardin Exotique bordering the commune of Cap d'Ail, to the west, and Moneghetti, including the Exotic Gardens
- Monte-Carlo, founded in 1866 under the reign of Prince Charles III and from whom it takes its name, with its world-famous Casino, grand hotels and recently-opened leisure areas
- La Condamine, the marketplace and pedestrian streets/shops just behind the Port/Marina area
- Saint Roman, the area just behind the beaches of the Larvotto at the Eastern end of Monaco
- Port Hercule itself, which hosts the start/finish and much of the famous annual Monaco Grand Prix
- Le Carre d'Or, the area around the Casino itself, including all the Haute Mode and jewellery shops, the Hotels de Paris, Hermitage and Metropole
